Online Card Classes - One More for the Cause…

I cannot even begin to express how inspiring the Stenciled class has been this past weekend! Not only did we get a ton of great ideas, but then Jennifer McGuire showed up with a BONUS card! On it she demonstrated a two stencil layering technique that was just gorgeous. I knew immediately that it was one I was going to test out for myself.

Mondays and Tuesdays are really long days for me, so tonight I came home and just started playing around. I pulled out the ol' Silhouette and cut a pisces frame. I decided to combine Jennifer's technique with a mask and stencil instead of two stencils... and here's what I came up with. 

 

It's hard to see in the photo, but the stars are sparkly from the Maya Rd mist that I used to color them. I used a rainbow of colors of distress inks (Hero Arts for the purple), a Studio Calico cut (the Pisces frame), and  Heidi Swapp 6x6 stencil (the polka dots). I really love the way it came out and I hope the birthday person to whom this will go will like it too! 

I've also decided that this card is a fun fit with the current Moxie Fab Challenge, so I'm submitting it for that fun activity too! 

Online Card Class - Stenciled Day 3!

I knew this would happen. Once I got started, I'd have a hard time stopping. But today was the day I was waiting for! I've owned a jar of Gluden's Modeling Paste for at least four years, and yet, I've never used it. When I saw a sneak for this class, and it showed a sample of paste and stencils together, I thought, this was the class for me! And really, that's all it took for me to be hooked. I pulled out a stencil I made with my Cameo and some cardstock, my base and went to town. 

To make this card, I first sprayed the base with some Heidi Swapp Shine in mint green. Then I laid the stencil down and smeared the modeling paste over it. Before lifting the stencil, I sprinkled some Zing embossing powder on top of the paste... love how it matches the shine so well! I then went into my stash and grabbed a Maya Rd chipboard crown and sprayed it with HS Tinsel Shine. Under it I put one of those Basic Grey petals things... the banner is from Spellbinders and run through my Epic 6. Hero Arts Ocean ink for the sentiment (two different HA sets), and almost done. I took some pearlescent stickles like paint thingie and dabbed the silver dots on the crown and background and the final touch were the stars (from a random Studio Calico kit...). I can't wait until it is dry so I can mount it on a card base! 

Online Card Classes - Day 1; Card 2

Forgive the poor photo... but just had to share the second card I made for the class Stenciled! It has been such a fun day! 

For this card I made my own stencil!!! So, in case you were wondering, you CAN cut Tim Holtz Mask sheets in the Silhouette!!! I was super excited to give this a try today! Once I had my stencil cut, I used an embossing technique from the class, blended some distress inks around the embossed image and topped it with a cute Paper Smooches image and sentiment.

When I saw Jennifer McGuire was teaching an online card class using fun stencils I immediately was intrigued. Then, I saw the price, and I was on board immediately. Now, the class has started and I can't believe all the creative overload I'm in after just watching day one's inspiration! Wow! So, here is my first card using the stenciling techniques. I combined Julie's simple distress ink and stencil technique along with the masking from Jennifer's layering videos and voila! So, excited to have taken the time to get inky today! 

Using a The Crafter's Workshop template; Laina Lamb designed stamps for My Favorite Things, Distress Inks in (barn door, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, shabby shutters, and broken china) and Hero Arts neon purple. Even dipped into my really old stash of Doodlebug borders! 

Coming Back in Style...

Hey friends! I knew that once the semester started, I'd be hard-pressed to blog regularly, but I had no idea how seldom I'd even think about blogging. I've certainly not stopped crafting, but have been mostly sharing through Instagram and Facebook. So, please feel free to check out my IG account (@scrapally) ! I've been busily sharing many of my Life Documented and Project Life layouts there... 

But this weekend I had the pleasure of hanging out with some of my favorite crafty ladies, and they reminded me how much fun cardmaking, stamping, and playing along with challenges are! After working on a couple of Life Documented layouts, they convinced me to participate in some Moxie Fab World challenges. Oh, what fun Cath is having on the Moxie Fab World blog right now! I started with the Stickers and Tape Challenge . Here's my entry... 

I created this fun little number by adhering various tapes to a subtle patterned cardstock and then cutting into squares. Then I cut each square in half so that I'd have a bunch of triangles. To finish the card, I lined the triangles up, added some stitching and stamped the sentiment using my favorite stamps - Paper Smooches . 

 

Next up I decided to tackle the Ready Made Embellishments Challenge . What better way to start out than with the new Simple Stories Snap Cards. I am all about the fun hashtags ( I may be a bit obsessed with them). So, the #Awesome on the 3x4 Snap card from the Her set immediately caught my eye. Pair that up with the fun black and white animal print 4x6 card from the same set and you have a Simple Stories match made in heaven. A little washi, some bling, a few more Paper Smooches stamps, and a titch of pearl paint, and you have a fun and easy card!

Paper Smooches CHA-W Sneaky Peek!

So, without further ado, here's my peek using two sets the Kibitzing Icons and Kibitzing Sampler (don't you just love those names?)

I love that Kim has designed a beautiful and fun Judaica set. It has cute sayings and traditional sayings alike! I especially like that she has provided for many more events other than just Chanukah, like this card for Rosh Hashana. For this first card I wanted to keep it pretty classic and simple. 

 

For my next card I just wanted to highlight the playfulness of Kim's stamps. So, here's my second take combining the two sets once again.

I love that little Chai Five saying! hee hee! For those who don't know "chai" means life and is very symbolic in Judaism.
